What are bio-remodelling injections?
Bio-remodelling injections are the latest hyaluronic acid anti-ageing treatment to promote the remodelling of ageing and sagging skin tissue and improves skin quality and skin firmness. Due to TGA regulations we are not allowed to name the product online.
Providing hydration from the inside, bio-remodelling injections treat crepey skin, loss of elasticity, laxity and skin firmness. Bio-remodelling injections stimulate the production of collagen and elastin to address skin ageing and sagging tissue. This treatment is the first of its kind in Australia, remodelling skin from within to improve signs of ageing. Treatment results can be improved by using the Profhilo Haenkenium antioxidant moisturiser to improve skin cell health ( available at Dermaluxe Beauty)
Bio-remodelling injections are used to treat the entire face, neck, hands and décolletage in only a few quick injections and can also be used to treat the skin on the neck, decolletage and back of hands where skin is often neglected.
Only arriving in Australia in 2022, this bio-remodelling treatment has been successfully used in Europe since 2015.
Whilst it is made of hyaluronic acid, bio-remodelling injectable treatment is not a skin booster and not a dermal filler.
How does bio-remodelling treatment work?
Bio-remodelling treatment is an injectable anti-ageing treatment. It is made with a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, and designed to spread like thin honey. It is injected underneath your skin, to nourish and rejuvenate from within. Unlike dermal fillers, bio-remodelling injections are not used to create volume or fullness. Instead they work to hydrate the skin from the inside and stimulate the production of elastin and collagen, which naturally depletes as you age. This results in smoother, firmer, tighter and younger looking skin.
As your skin ages, the fat pads under your skin also start degrading, further contributing to a saggy and aged appearance. This is especially apparent on your lower face and cheeks. Bio-remodelling injections can work to prevent your fat pads from degrading, resulting in a tighter looking complexion.
The image below demonstrates the role that collagen and elastin have in helping to support and provide structure to the uppermost layers of your skin.
Is bio-remodelling a dermal filler?
Bio-remodelling injections are technically not a dermal filler, but they both do contain hyaluronic acid. Dermal fillers are made with a cross-linked hyaluronic acid which is designed to fill and create volume in the specific areas that they are injected in. This includes the lips, cheeks and temples, to address areas of facial volume loss. Bio-remodelling injections are made of non-cross linked hyaluronic acid and do not fill or create volume in one specific area. Instead they stimulate the natural production of elastin and collagen, replacing what you naturally lose in your skin due to the ageing process.
So whilst dermal filler and bio-remodelling injections both contain hyaluronic acid, bio-remodelling injections are superior for overall facial rejuvenation and anti-ageing, especially when combined with anti-wrinkle injections. Whereas dermal fillers, with their cross-linked hyaluronic acid, are best for targeted anti-ageing or facial shaping concerns.
What are the benefits of having bio-remodelling?
Bio-remodelling is a way of treating the underlying changes in your skin. Is it highly likely that most patients will be having dermal filler treatment less frequently if the patient is being treated with bio-remodelling injections.
Benefits of having bio-remodelling injections include:
- Stimulates the elastin production and collagen production
- Improves skin laxity, firmness and elasticity
- Hyaluronic acid hydrates skin from the inside to improve skin texture and tone
- Minimally invasive treatment
- Suitable for most people
- Regular use will not make you look over-filled
Where can bio-remodelling be used?
Areas such as the face, neck, décolletage and back of hands can be treated with bio-remodelling injections. Unlike dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections, there aren’t specific targeted areas on the face that are treated to reach a desired outcome. The bio-remodelling injections are placed all over the face in a few strategically placed injecting points. The bio-remodelling injection then quickly disperses underneath the skin to reach all areas of the face where the benefits of hydration, collagen stimulation and reduced fat depletion are needed.
The neck, décolletage and back of hands are also very common areas to be treated. These parts of the body are often exposed to UV radiation and show signs of ageing that can be addressed with bio-remodelling injections.
Who are bio-remodelling injections suitable for?
This anti-ageing treatment is suitable for anyone who has noticed mild wrinkles, dull skin, loss of elasticity, hydration and skin laxity. Genetics and lifestyle factors contribute to when this occurs, however most people will begin noticing these changes to their skin from around the age of 30 years old. Bio-remodelling injections are an excellent way to address signs of premature ageing, skin crepiness and hydration.
It is not recommended for people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have skin infections at the treatment site, or if you have an allergy to hyaluronic. We also advise waiting two weeks after receiving any vaccination.
As with all our cosmetic medical procedures a consultation is required with our Registered Cosmetic Nurses to determine your suitability for this treatment.
Risks and side effects associated with bio-remodelling injectables
Bio-remodelling injections are well tolerated and risks and reported side effects are very rare. It is important to note that like all medical procedures there can be risks, even if they are rare.
The bio-remodelling injections used at Dermaluxe Injectables are free from synthetic chemicals but there may still be a risk of some swelling and redness at the injection site. Due to the breaking of the skin barrier during injection there is a small risk of infection. The injection sites used for bio-remodelling injections makes the risk of a vascular occlusion extremely rare.
The most common side effects are raised bumps at the injection site which usually resolve within 24 to 48hrs but can take up to a week. Bruising is a minor side effect that may occur however usually resolves within a couple of days.
How do I prepare for bio-remodelling?
There is no particular preparation prior to having your bio-remodelling injections, although it is best to avoid alcohol for at least 24hrs prior to treatment. Any non-prescribed blood thinning supplements such as fish oil, krill oil, Vitamin E, Garlic and Ginkgo Biloba should be stopped at least 7 days prior to your treatment to prevent bruising from occurring. Do not cease taking any medications without first consulting your doctor.
What does the treatment involve?
The treatment area is first numbed with local anaesthetic to make the procedure very comfortable.
The bio-remodelling injections are then placed all over the face, neck, décolletage or back of hands in a few strategically placed injecting points. The product then quickly disperses underneath the skin like a thin honey, to reach all areas where the benefits of hydration with hyaluronic acid, collagen stimulation and reduced fat depletion are needed.
How long does bio-remodelling treatment take?
The treatment is very quick to perform and you can expect to be in the treatment room no more than 30 minutes. The procedure is much quicker than dermal filler treatment and some other cosmetic medical treatments. If you are combining bio-remodelling treatment with anti-wrinkle or dermal filler treatment, it shouldn’t take much longer than your regular dermal filler or anti-wrinkle appointment time.
How many bio-remodelling injections do I need?
For best results we recommend two or three treatments performed one month apart. Some patients have been happy with the results seen after one treatment and return every 6 months or so for another treatment. The amount of treatments required and the timeframe between treatments can vary greatly between patients.
It can also depend on your skin condition, age, and whether you are using any cosmeceutical skin care to enhance your results, such as the Profhilo Antioxidant Moisturiser. Additionally, daily use of sunscreen will ensure that UV radiation does not cause further ageing to your skin.
What results can I expect with bio-remodelling?
As you age your skin’s production of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin decreases and the existing stores of these essential skin plumping proteins degrade. Collagen and elastin is required to give your skin a firm and youthful appearance. Injected just below the skin surface, bio-remodelling injections spread quickly to the areas needed to provide instant hydration, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles in the process. Patients report a glowing appearance in the hours and days following their treatment. The bio-remodelling continues over the weeks and months to continue generating more collagen and elastin.
Treatment results are not as initially noticeable as dermal fillers, instead they are designed to provide an overall skin rejuvenation treatment with natural looking results.
FAQs
Are bio-remodelling injectables painful?
Bio-remodelling injections are made very comfortable by our practitioners injecting a small amount of local anaesthetic at the treatment sites to completely numb the area to be treated. You can also opt to attend your appointment earlier to have topical numbing cream applied if you would prefer. This is at no additional cost to you.
How long do the results last?
Some immediate improvements can be noticed due to the hyaluronic acid. Treatment results generally last 6 months following your last bio-remodelling injection treatment. Although some patients will be happy with their results following one treatment, for best results we recommend having two to three treatments spaced one month apart.
Bio-remodelling results will continue to improve in the months following treatment as new collagen protein is formed within your skin. During this time skin elasticity and skin laxity also continues to improve.
Can I combine bio-remodelling with other treatments?
Yes, you can combine treatments. The most common treatment combinations are dermal filler or anti-wrinkle injections in the same appointment. If you wish to further improve your skin texture and tone we also recommend a course of skin needling and PDO threads
