To ensure optimal results and minimise risks, follow these guidelines before your treatment:
- Avoid Blood Thinners Stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oil, and herbal supplements (e.g., St. John’s Wort, turmeric) 1 week before treatment to reduce bruising (Consult your doctor before discontinuing prescribed blood thinners)
- Limit Alcohol and Caffeine Avoid alcohol for 24–48 hours pre-treatment to prevent skin sensitivity and bruising Reduce caffeine intake on the day of the procedure
- Skin Preparation Remove makeup before your appointment to ensure clean injection sites Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and facial treatments (e.g., chemical peels) for 3–7 days prior
- General Health Stay hydrated and eat a light meal beforehand to prevent dizziness Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours pre-treatment to minimise swelling
- Consultation Requirements Attend a pre-treatment consultation to discuss goals, risks, and aftercare Disclose medical history, allergies, or lactose intolerance on your consent forms
Book in your antiwrinkle appointment at least 2 weeks prior to your special event you are attending to allow full effects to appear Following these steps helps ensure a safe, comfortable experience and enhances treatment outcomes.
Remain upright for 4 hours post anti-wrinkle injection treatment and avoid pressure to the area However you should avoid the following for 24 hours:
- Strenuous exercise
- Consumption of alcohol
It is also recommended to avoid the following for two weeks:
- Extended exposure to sun or uv light
- Extended exposure to heat or freezing temperatures
Exposure to any of the above may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at treatment areas. If you have swelling, you can apply an ice pack for a brief period to help with discomfort. We always recommend the use of sunscreen to prevent sun damage to the skin. Sunscreen with SPF 30 or above should be used daily. If you are under the sun for prolonged periods of time, sunscreen needs to be reapplied at least once every two hours.
